Yásnaya Elena Aguilar Gil is part of Colectivo Mixe (COLMIX), a group of young Mixes that researches and disseminates activities related to the Mixe’s language, history, and culture. She received a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Languages and Literature and a master's degree in Linguistics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Yásnaya is also an activist who has worked to defend the linguistic rights of speakers of indigenous languages. She has collaborated in various projects focused on the spread of linguistic diversity, literary translation, and the development of grammatical content for educational materials in Mixe and other indigenous languages. Likewise, she has contributed to projects that aim to document and attend to languages that face the risk of disappearance, and to protect their use in virtual spaces.
