Gean Moreno
Gean Moreno is the James S. and John L. Knight Director of the Art + Research Center at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. In this capacity, he oversees the center’s operations and digital initiatives, develops pedagogical and discursive platforms, and commissions publications and long-term research projects. He is also part of ICA Miami’s curatorial team, and has recently curated exhibitions dedicated to the work of Terry Adkins, Larry Bell, and Ettore Sottsass. Moreno was an adviser to the 2017 Whitney Biennial and the 2018 Creative Time Summit. He serves on the advisory boards of numerous foundations and journals. In 2008, he founded [NAME] Publications, a press dedicated to field-advancing art theory, through which he has worked with numerous international institutions, including Kunsthalle Zurich and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. In 2018, he co-founded with Natalia Zuluaga the journal Dispatches under the [NAME] imprint. He regularly contributes texts to various publications, most recently
e-flux journal,
Kaleidoscope, and
Art in America. He has lectured at numerous institutions, including New York University, the Tyler School of Art, Goldsmiths, the University of Florida, and Umeå Academy of Fine Arts. He has also been adjunct faculty at Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University. In summer 2019, Verso and [NAME] Publications will co-publish an anthology that he edited,
